Is a Sexy boudoir shoot on your bucket list?

I came across the best article yesterday!

An 82-year mature Seattle woman followed-through on an item that had been on her bucket list: a premium boudoir photoshoot!

I’d shot a woman in NY city a few years back and she was the same age! She showed everyone her boudoir photos, not giving a damn what they thought about it either.

When I tell people, boudoir photography is for women at any age and that I love shooting mature women, their eyes open wide.

Not in shock or disbelief, but in excitement!

See, the idea that we can own our sensuality, beauty & feel confident especially when we’re in our 50s, 60s, 70s, & 80s is thrilling!

As a boudoir photographer I see the purpose of boudoir photography quite simply: to express who we are in beautiful images that capture our personalities and relationships with our bodies.

And that means that we can own our sensuality at any age. Some of the most beautiful women I’ve shot have been mature women in their 60s and 70s and beyond!

Here are 5 tips for mature women (visit my boudoir photo gallery for women over 40) considering a boudoir shoot:

  1. Find a boudoir photographer who really understands light
Some photographers are natural-light-only shooters and while that’s all fine and good for women in their 20s and 30s, having the freedom to capture different moods and masterfully flatter mature skin is better left in the hands of a serious professional who understands both natural light and studio lighting

  2. Look for a diversity of boudoir photos in the photographer’s gallery
Ensure the photographer has experience shooting mature women and not just women in their 20s and 30s.

  3. Get on the phone with potential boudoir photographers
Feeling confident and comfortable is THE key to great boudoir pictures. If you’re uncomfortable, the images will look uncomfortable. If you’re having a great time, your boudoir photos will reflect that. Vet photographers by getting on the phone (contact Susan of LIBP here) with them and seeing how you feel.

  4. Find a photography studio that specializes in boudoir
Because boudoir photography has become trendy, a lot of photographers who specialize in other niches are adding boudoir to their list of offerings. While that’s great, they may not have the specialized experience required to flatter a broader range of women with lighting, posting and angles.

  5. Consider your comfort level and wardrobe
Reflect on what you most desire and never let your age limit your vision. Some women prefer to wear conservative outfits for their lingerie photo shoot while others on the other end of the spectrum are happy to shoot artistic nudes (be sure to check out one of my mature client’s boudoir photos in the gallery below).

So, is a boudoir / lingerie photo shoot on your bucket list?

If it is, contact me and we’ll discuss this incredible experience that awaits you.
