What is Pregnancy / Maternity Boudoir Photography?
Can I be honest?
When I was pregnant with my first son I went to a maternity store.
Although I was still small at the time, my belly was HUGE. And I had a wedding to go to.
So I went shopping.
I was appalled.
Shocked.
Horrified even.
The maternity clothes I saw were HIDEOUS!
Unflattering.
Plain gross!
NO WAY.
So I bought a larger size dress from the normal women’s dept and made some tweaks.
Thank goodness things have gotten somewhat better.
BUT the idea of a pregnant woman hiding behind hideous bulks of fabric is SO outdated!
That’s why I love when pregnant woman call me about maternity boudoir shoots!
They want to celebrate their baby bumps because they feel sexy, beautiful.
They’re fascinated and in awe of what the female body can do.
That confidence is sexy all by itself!
So I offer a few things in the studio:
Maternity dresses
Sheer gowns
And a load of fabrics (I’m a whiz at wrapping them so they look incredible if you’re not wanting to show the world everything)
If you’re brave enough, you can wear light! I use my mastery of light to sculpt the body, highlight the pregnant belly, while hiding the bits we prefer to keep hidden.
